Police Arrest Man Who Battered Wife 4 Days After Childbirth

A disturbing video making rounds on social media has sparked outrage after a Nigerian man was allegedly arrested for physically assaulting his wife just four days after she gave birth, and in the presence of his own mother.
The incident was shared via a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), where users expressed shock and anger at the man’s actions, especially considering the delicate condition of the woman who had only recently delivered a baby.

In one of the clips, a woman believed to be a relative was seen carrying the newborn, while police officers at the scene disciplined the husband, who reportedly admitted to having a dispute with his wife.

“We had issues, she was rushed to the hospital,” the man said when confronted by the officers.

A voice in the background then revealed the severity of the situation, saying, “She’s on oxygen, not breathing.

The video has drawn a wave of condemnation from Nigerians online, with many calling for justice and urging authorities to ensure that the man faces the full weight of the law.

Read some netizens’ reactions below;

@shegzedon: “Even though some women can be annoying they need to jail the man.”

@justkency: “This is crazy. I think fathers should advise boys, as well as mothers, that women are reckless with the tongue, and no matter how the words cut deep into the soul, just ignore her. Married men know this. You can’t just assault your wife except you want to catch a criminal case.”

@MisterBWO: “Imagine beating someone who gave birth to your child💔What are you gonna tell him if he grows up.”

@gurl_lambo: “What sort of people are you guys marrying these days biko????”

@LaughNLearnX: “Any man who lays his hands on a woman or engages in domestic violence has lost all sense of responsibility and respect. There’s no justification for such behaviour, it’s shameful.”

@ Alabisznwt “Beating a woman who just brought life into the world? That’s not rage. That’s evil. Lock him away and throw the cell into the sea.”

@badablestarlove: “He deserves it . Hmmm both man and woman dey go through a lot from irresponsible humans.”

As of the time of this report, the identity of the victim has not been disclosed, and the condition of the woman remains unknown.
