The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a motel owner and two other suspects over alleged involvement in illicit drug activities and unlawful possession of a firearm in Uke, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects were identified as Mr. Ifeanyi Ibeabuchi, 39; Abdullahi Shaibu, 26; and Obah Chima, 18.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, acted on credible intelligence to storm a motel in Uke during the late hours of February 9, 2026, leading to the arrest of the suspects.
According to Ikenga, a search conducted at the premises led to the recovery of one Jojef pump-action gun with breach number 21SA-0724, loaded with three live cartridges.
He further disclosed that Mr. Ibeabuchi allegedly confessed to ownership of the firearm.
He said subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the other two suspects and the recovery of substances suspected to be Cannabis sativa, crystal methamphetamine, “colos,” and “mkpuru-mmiri.”
The police spokesperson reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining ongoing operations against criminal elements across the state.
He urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to support policing efforts.
Ikenga added that further developments would be communicated as investigations progress.
