As part of activities marking Day 4 of the National Police Day 2026 celebration, the Rivers State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, psc, mnips, reaffirmed its commitment to the welfare of officers and their families. The event was held to honour the sacrifices of fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
In a compassionate gesture, the Commissioner of Police presented cheques totaling Twenty-One Million, Six Hundred and Seventy-Eight Thousand, One Hundred and Twenty Naira (₦21,678,120.00) to the families of deceased officers. The presentation underscores IGP and the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to supporting the loved ones of officers who lost their lives while serving the nation.
CP Adepoju expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved families and assured them that the Force remains committed to their welfare. He noted that the sacrifices of the fallen officers would never be forgotten and emphasized the importance of sustaining morale among serving personnel through such support initiatives.
The beneficiaries, visibly appreciative, commended the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, for his exceptional leadership, unwavering dedication, and profound commitment to the welfare of police personnel and their families. They particularly praised his compassionate approach, timely interventions, and steadfast resolve to prioritize the well-being of officers, noting that his efforts continue to inspire confidence, boost morale, and strengthen the bond between the Force and its members. They also applauded his visionary reforms and relentless pursuit of a more responsive and people-oriented Police Force.
The cheque presentation ceremony stands as a testament to the Nigeria Police Force’s enduring commitment to the welfare of its personnel and their families.
