Anambra Police Arrest Female Accomplice in Gruesome Murder of Pregnant Nurse Human Parts Recovered from Shrine

The Anambra State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the horrifying murder of a pregnant nurse in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area.

On 25th July 2025, acting on credible intelligence and with strong support from members of Umueri Village, Ogbunike, police operatives arrested Somtochukwu Nwafor,24-year-old woman alleged to be closely connected to the crime. The suspect reportedly confessed during interrogation to being the girlfriend of the prime suspect, Chiemerie Obika Elobisi popularly known as Obitex who remains at large.

According to her statement, she was summoned by Elobisi to clean up bloodstains after the murder and further revealed that the victim’s body parts were sold to various native doctors. Preliminary findings indicate that the victim, a professional nurse, was lured to Elobisi’s home under the pretence of providing medical assistance.

Following this disturbing confession, operatives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) raided a shrine in Itima Amawa Village, Ogbunike, belonging to Nwafor Chibunna Ofornwatadile, one of the alleged buyers of the body parts. There, they recovered suspected human remains wrapped in cellophane bags.

The Anambra State Police Command has now intensified the manhunt for Chiemerie Obika Elobisi and other suspected accomplices and collaborators involved in this vile act.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, strongly condemned the killing, calling it “inhumane, criminal, and an affront to public morality and the sanctity of life.” He called on the public to volunteer useful information that could aid in the arrest of the remaining suspects, assuring that all informants’ identities will be strictly protected.

This chilling case has sparked public outrage and grief across Ogbunike and beyond, as the community continues to mourn the tragic loss while demanding swift justice.
