Police Reveals Identity Of SUPOL Who Allegedly R*ped 17-Year-Old Girl Inside Ogudu Police Station In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has announced that the case involving a 17-year-old girl who was allegedly r^ped by a policeman inside the Ogudu police station has been forwarded to the Force Headquarters in Abuja.

This was disclosed to SaharaReporters on Tuesday evening during a telephone conversation with the Lagos Police Command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin, who revealed that the command had concluded its disciplinary report on the suspect and forwarded it to the Force Headquarters.

“The Suspect’s Disciplinary Report has been forwarded to the force headquarters for further necessary action. We await feedback. Kindly note that a serving police officer cannot be prosecuted except he or she has first been dismissed from service,” the police spokesman said.

The suspect, identified as Owolabi Akinolu, 56, is a superintendent of police (SUPOL).

An X user who identified as the sibling of the victim in a tweet on July 15, 2024, said, “I can’t sleep I can’t breath properly, NIGERIA happened to me and my family ,My sister got r*ped by a police officer in Nigeria, yes you read it right, OGUDU POLICE STATION my sister must get justice.”

In another post, the X user said the victim was r*ped at gunpoint by the policeman after she lodged a complaint about a robbery case to him in July.

The X user wrote: “This is the face of the r*pist. His name is OWOLABI AKINLOLU, a Superintendent of Police (SUPOL). He is 56 y/o. The corrupt Nigerian police will never show his face, they’ll try to protect him but it’s our job to make sure this idiot is popular and pays for this despicable act.

“The craziest thing about this story is that the 17 year old girl was on her own jeje after getting robbed on 3MB. This man deceived her into coming to the station by telling her the robbers have been caught, only to r*pe her at gunpoint. Off this animal immediately.

After the police authorities in Lagos failed to release any public statement on the issue one month after the incident, an X user, Gerald, called the attention of the spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force, Olumuyiwa Adejobi to the silence of the Lagos Police Command on the issue.

He wrote: “It’s been weeks now since you asked @BenHundeyin to give a the public and update regarding the police officer that allegedly r*ped a young girl in his office and he has failed to do.”

Adejobi in a post on his X account on Monday, said, “@BenHundeyin, make sure you update Nigerians on the outcome of the investigation. By now, you should have a report of the investigation, most especially the medical report. That is key. Our silence on the matter is not too okay. @PoliceNG_CRU, @PoliceNG.”

However, after Hundeyin failed to update the public on the matter 24 hours after being instructed by his superior, Adejobi to do so, another X user, @UgwunnaEjikem wrote: “Good afternoon, brother Muyiwa. I thought to inform you that it’s almost 24 hours since you instructed brother @BenHundeyin to “Make sure you update Nigerians.”

“His silence says there’s nothing you can do. I just thought to inform you of the disobedience. About him too.”
