Port Harcourt Court Remands Eze Risi Ohia-Emeri Abali of Rebisi To Prisons Over Allege Threatening Of Retired Judge

A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has ordered the remand of His Royal Highness, Eze Cyprian Amadi-Worenwu, the Eze Risi Ohia-Emeri Abali of Rebisi, to the Port Harcourt correctional facility. He faces a charge of threatening life.

According to report from vanguard, the charge alleges that on March 28, 2023, Amadi-Worenwu sent a threatening message to Sunday Gift-Chinenem, harassing and instilling fear of death in retired Justice Adolphus Enebeli. He allegedly claimed to know where Enebeli’s son worked and threatened the judge’s life following an unfavorable ruling in a Chieftaincy dispute involving him and Christopher Wonodi, among others, on March 20, 2023. This offense contravenes section 24 (B.C) of the Crime Prohibition Prevention Act, 2015.

Amadi-Worenwu pleaded not guilty when the charge was read. However, Justice Emmanuel Obele denied an oral bail application from defense counsel A.S. Amadi, which prosecution counsel ASP Welter Ogwuikpile opposed. The judge adjourned the case to July 29, 2024, for bail consideration and ordered Amadi-Worenwu’s remand until then.

The accused was arrested by detectives from the Rivers State Criminal Investigation Department after evading police invitations concerning his alleged threats. He had previously been granted bail but allegedly absconded until his recent visit to the police station, leading to his arrest and arraignment.
