Women in Port Harcourt and its environs are set to benefit from a free skills acquisition programme scheduled for April 17, 2026, as part of activities marking the ThatAfricanMom Women Summit 2026.
The training, organized by ThatAfricanMom, a women empowerment platform founded by Dr Hafsat Akande, is designed to equip participants with practical, income-generating skills aimed at improving their economic independence and overall wellbeing.
The initiative, which is open to the public, will bring together women from diverse backgrounds including entrepreneurs, students, professionals, and mothers, offering them an opportunity to learn new trades and enhance existing skills.
Organizers say the programme reflects a strong commitment to ensuring that women are not only inspired but also empowered with tangible tools that can positively transform their lives and businesses.
The free training serves as a precursor to the main ThatAfricanMom Women Summit scheduled for April 18, 2026, which will feature keynote addresses, panel sessions, and networking opportunities centered on leadership, entrepreneurship, financial empowerment, and women’s development.
Speaking ahead of the event, Akande noted that the skills acquisition initiative is a critical component of the summit’s broader objective of fostering self-reliance among African women.
She emphasized that beyond conversations and inspiration, the platform prioritizes actionable empowerment that enables women to create sustainable sources of income and contribute meaningfully to their communities.
Participants at the training are expected to gain hands-on knowledge that can be immediately applied in starting or scaling small businesses, positioning them for long-term financial stability.
The ThatAfricanMom Women Summit, themed “Rooted. Recharged. Ready: The True African Woman,” continues to grow as a platform connecting women with mentorship, resources, and opportunities for personal and economic advancement.
