Tension has gripped Onitsha Main Market following a violent clash between traders and operatives of the controversial Ocha Brigade.
Eyewitnesses told reporters that the incident occurred Tuesday along Bright Street, opposite First Bank, when the squad stormed the market to seize traders’ goods. Resistance from the marketers reportedly led to chaos, during which the task force allegedly opened fire on unarmed traders.
At least four people were shot, including a pregnant woman, sparking outrage and panic in the bustling market.
Shops were hurriedly shut down as traders fled for safety, while security operatives struggled to restore calm. Onitsha
