President Tinubu Declares State of Emergency on Nigeria’s Security Training Institutions

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared a state of emergency on Nigeria’s security training institutions, citing the urgent need to modernize and upgrade the nation’s security infrastructure.

The President expressed concern over the outdated facilities being used by the Nigeria Police Force, Civil Defence Corps, and other security agencies, describing them as inadequate for modern security challenges.

According to the directive, state governors and heads of security formations across the country have been given 30 days to conduct a comprehensive assessment and submit detailed reports on the current condition of all training facilities within their jurisdictions.

President Tinubu emphasized that the move is part of his administration’s broader effort to reform and strengthen Nigeria’s internal security framework, ensuring that personnel across all security agencies receive world-class training and capacity development.

The declaration is expected to pave the way for major reforms, including the rehabilitation of training centres, introduction of modern equipment, and establishment of new regional academies that align with international standards.

Security analysts have welcomed the move, describing it as a long-overdue step toward improving professionalism, morale, and operational efficiency within the country’s security services.

With the 30-day report deadline fast approaching, Nigerians are eager to see how federal and state authorities will respond to this decisive push for security sector modernization.
