Prime Suspect in Assault on Rivers Council Administrator Denies Involvement

The Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Ahoada-East LGA, Mr. Hector Ekeakita, has shed light on the events that led to the alleged assault on the Sole Administrator of the local government, Mr. Goodluck Iheanacho.

According to Ekeakita:

1. “The Sole administrator of Ahoada-East LGAz Mr. Goodluck Iheanacho was fraternizing with members of the Simplified Family to the extent of nearly employing a youth loyal to Governor Sim Fubara. That is unacceptable and barbaric. We do not play that kind of politics here,” he said.

2. The Sole Administrator reportedly neglected critical areas such as sanitation and local security, drawing public dissatisfaction.

3. Appointees under his administration were allegedly underpaid despite the substantial allocations to the LGA. When questioned, he claimed that the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok Ete Ibas, had deducted ₦200 million from the LGA’s allocation, which accounted for the discrepancies.

4. In April, Mr. Iheanacho allegedly received ₦800 million as allocation but declared only ₦700 million. In May, he reportedly received ₦600 million, along with over ₦100 million in excess crude funds, but declared just ₦500 million.

Despite these serious allegations, Mr. Ekeakita stated he was not present at the scene of the incident and denied having any role in the assault on the Sole Administrator.

He also clarified that it was not hoodlums but angry youths of the LGA who confronted Mr. Iheanacho, demanding accountability.
