Relief Intl Human Rights Clinic Welcome New CP To Rivers State, Urge Him To Address Recent Arson, Destruction In LGAs

Relief International Africa Human Rights Clinic extends its warm congratulations and support to the newly appointed Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Mohammed, as he assumes office in Rivers State. We acknowledge his appointment as a positive step towards strengthening law enforcement and security in the state. As such, we want to take him by his words as seen in his first Press Release.
We urge Commissioner Mohammed to immediately collaborate with the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Joseph Fubara, the Media, Civil Society, traditional rulers and work closely to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.

It is critical to address the recent acts of arson and destruction that have devastated several local government areas across Rivers State. These violent attacks, perpetrated yesterday in the name of dirty politics, have led to the burning and destruction of government properties, all of which were funded by taxpayers’ hard-earned money and loss of life.
Relief International Africa calls upon CP Mustapha Mohammed to use his expertise and authority to investigate, identify, and apprehend those responsible for these heinous crimes within the next seven days or we will drag the Nigeria Police and the Rivers State Government to Court for failing in their primary and constitutional duty of protecting lives and properties. The culprits of these evil and cowardly acts must face justice, and we reiterate our demand that they be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. This will serve as a strong deterrent to those who may contemplate similar acts in the future.
We stand firmly with the people of Rivers State in this difficult time, and we emphasize the need for a unified response from both the police and the government to protect public property and uphold the rule of law. It is imperative that justice is swiftly served, ensuring peace and stability in the state.
