The Executive Secretary of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Agala has urged staff and team members of the state health insurance agency to remain pragmatic and strategic in delivering on their mandates.
Dr. Agala, who gave the charge during RIVCHPP’s annual planning meeting for 2026 in Port Harcourt, on Monday, 23rd February, 2026, called upon the staff, and all those engaged to do one service or the other for the health insurance agency, to target ensuring that all RIVCHPP’s enrollees always have access to quality healthcare services.
The Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, who christened the meeting as “RIVCHPP at 2 : Strategic Workshop towards expanding universal health coverage “, encouraged team members to always think of how to get more and more Rivers residents into RIVCHPP’s programmes.
Dr. Agala, who also advised staff and team members to be more focused in their endeavours towards realising the target of having at least a million lives on its programmes in 2026, directed all to be guided by the vision and the mission of the agency at all times.
The Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, in the course of the meeting, emphasised that every work and opportunity in RIVCHPP should be geared towards achieving five thematic and strategic objectives. These are expanding coverage, improving service delivery, strengthening organisational capacity, strong stakeholder engagement and visibility.
According to Dr Agala, the thematic and strategic objectives should guide all staff and team members. She used the opportunity to thank the state government, RIVCHPP board and management for the enabling environment, while appreciating all staff and team members for the work they do, she urged them to do more and to always see all Rivers residents as a family that need to be part of this laudable programme of government.
