Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) is fast becoming a household name, starting from less than a hundred thousand lives in 2024 to over one hundred and Forty lives on its different packages
The clarifications were made in Port Harcourt on Thursday, 18th December, 2025, during the health insurance agency’s Xmas and end of year Thanksgiving party by Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala.
The Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, who appreciated the management, staff, and team members of the agency for their dedication and commitment to the work they do, which has resulted in the success story, announced that RIVCHPP has moved from the backside to the thirteenth position nationally.
Dr. Agala also used the event to thank and appreciate the State Government under the leadership of Sir Siminialayi Fubara, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, and the board of RIVCHPP for unfettered support and leadership direction.
In giving an overview of RIVCHPP activities, the Head of Planning of RIVCHPP, Dr. Juliet Aleme gave a rundown of some of the successes the agency recorded in 2025.
According to Dr. Aleme, RIVCHPP had a successful Universal Health Coverage Day celebration in the state and increased service utilisation by enrollees from 29, 812 in 2024 to 103, 653 in the year 2025 .
Some other successes recorded were that RIVCHPP onboarded more facilities for healthcare services, where they now pay capitation from 138 in 2024 to 195 in 2025, and ceaseran sections carried out in 2024 were 25, while in 2025, the sections were 419, other surgeries sponsored and financed by the health insurance agency were 264 in number as against the 36 had in 2024.
The Xmas and Thanksgiving end of year party also featured praises, exhortation of the word of God, and presentation of gifts.
