The management of Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has thanked the Head of Service, Rivers State, Dr.(Mrs) Inyingi Brown, for her support and efforts in seeing to it that civil servants, including RIVCHPP staff, operate in a friendly and conducive environment.
The stance of RIVCHPP was made by its Executive Secretary / Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Vetty Agala, when she led the management team of the health insurance agency on a courtesy visit to the office of the Head of Service on Wednesday, 14th January, 2026.
Dr. Agala informed the Head of Service that her continuous leadership and support are critical towards the progress made by RIVCHPP, pledging that the agency will continue to be accountable, transparent, and result-oriented in order to make the state proud.
Dr. Agala then used the occasion to plead with the Head of Service, Dr. Mrs. Brown, to convey the gratitude and appreciation of the management of RIVCHPP to Governor Siminialayi Fubara for all that he is doing for Rivers people, including the ongoing renovation work at the State Secretariat Complex.
The Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP also used the opportunity of the visit to thank Governor Siminialayi Fubara for making the health insurance agency functional in the state, saying that its operationalization has saved lives and put smiles on the faces of numerous residents of the state who have benefited from the programme.
Dr. Agala announced that the health insurance agency is to take out a day every week, beginning in this January 2026, to share testimonies of beneficiaries and how they are grateful to Governor Fubara, appealing for support to surmount challenges faced by the agency.
Dr. Agala also announced that a good number of beneficiaries, especially those under the Basic Health Care Provision Fund, would have been delisted, for lack of NIN, from accessing care if not for the intervention of the state government.
RIVCHPP’s Executive Secretary then called on local government chairmen, well-meaning citizens and organisations, to help especially the vulnerable population within their reach, to acquire the NIN so as to continue to access quality healthcare services.
In her remarks, the Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Inyingi Brown, who commended RIVCHPP for the work they do, urged the team members to be more committed sharing in the zeal of their Executive Secretary towards ensuring that the universal health coverage indices in the state is expanded in such a way that Rivers State becomes number one nationally.
Dr. Brown promised to continue to give necessary support for RIVCHPP to succeed in its assignments, saying that the onboarding of the formal sector into RIVCHPP is key, as knowing one’s health status in work place is very important.
The Head of Service, however, pleaded with RIVCHPP and other health agencies to ensure that proper drugs are dispensed at the health facilities and that health workers, especially in the rural areas, improve in their attitude to work.
The visit featured the presentation of souvenirs to the Head of Service .
