River CP Hails PCRC Interventions In Woji Youth Clash With Police, Appeals For Continuous Support In Crime Elimination

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu has tasked the Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC) to continue to support the Police in crime prevention and reduction in the state.

CP Disu made the disclosure in his remarks at the group’s End of Year Party in Portharcourt on Thursday 23rd November,2023.

CP Disu stated that PCRC is most crucial partners in areas of crime fighting as the group is the closet to the community. The Rivers Police Chief told PCRC members to report to him or the Deputy Commissioner of Police(DCP) Administration anytime they have complaints against Divisional Police Officers(DPOs) or any senior officer in their jurisdiction and the complaints will be comprehensively addressed.

In his speech, Donald Osifoh, Coordinator of PCRC state members pledged the continuous support of the group especially in areas of giving very useful intelligence and information to the Police that will aid crime prevention and reduction to as low as reasonably practical if not total eradication.

Mr Osifoh recalled that the riot by the Youth against the killing of a native in Woji community Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Monday 20,2023 would have gone out of control if not for intervention of the paramount ruler who is also a member of PCRC that douse the tension.

He said the PCRC will continue to bridge the gap between the Police and the community. .

Our correspondent reports that the Rivers State Chairman of PCRC Mr Voke Emore who was also in attendance told members of the group that any credible information that will curtail crime and criminality should be given timely to the Police for timely intervention.
