Rivers CP Warns Against Political Violence, Disruption Of Campaigns Rallies, Defacing Bill Boards

The Commissioner at a median meeting with  political parties Leaders, and their candidates on Wednesday in Porthacourt warned the command will come out in full force to deal decisively with miscreants hiding under political thugs to cause mayhem or disruption Rallies of their perceived opponent

He told the candidates and leaders of political parties who were present at the meeting to advise their supporters not to indulge in any form of violence as any one caught will be dealt with decisively in accordance with the law.

The Police Boss assured that the Police will be neutral in the discharge of their duty before, during and after the election and urged political parties and their candidates to submit to the Police schedules for their political campaigns to enable the command plan adequately in providing security for all parties

He said “the meeting will be replicated in Area Commands Divisions and across the Police formation in the state.

CP Okon  Effiong while responding to questions posed at the events reiterated that the command under watch is committed to safety, security and fairness and urge the political Leaders to speak to their followers to be peaceful and maintain cordial relationships with friends who have crossed over to the other side, says family and friendship should be placed above any personal ambition

In her remark, the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Dr. Ipalibo Harry Banigo said the Government of Rivers State is committed to ensuring adequate security in the state and provide enabling environment for electioneering campaigns and voting in the state.

Highpoint of the meeting was the signing of Peace Accord by candidates of political parties.
