The Rivers State Correspondent of the Daily Champion Newspaper, Deacon Emmanuel Ovundah Nlewedum, was on Sunday June 22, 2025, honoured with an ‘Exemplary Leadership Award’ by the Youths of the Graced Horizon City Ministry, GHCM, in Port Harcourt.
The award was presented to Deacon Nlewedum and seven others during the National Youth Day Celebration of the church, “in recognition of his outstanding leadership, commitment and selfless services in God’s vine yard and the society, as well as his contributions towards church growth and the body of Christ,” according to the youths.
Also among those honoured by the youths is the Lead Pastor of the Church, Ambassador Chima Justice Anthony, who was conferred with a ‘Beacon of Inspiration Award’ for his fatherly care, mentorship, leadership and insights that has made lasting impacts in the society and body of Christ.
Others include Mrs. Bosidor Sokari (Role Model Award), Amb. Mrs. Pearl Chiamaka Anthony (Beacon of Love Award), Pastor Mrs. Ilami Isaac Igoni (Mother of Excellence Award) and Mr. Emmanuel Lucky Chima, (Legacy Of Service Award).
Similarly, a Kenyan-based businessman, Mr. Ifeanyi Patrick
Abadom, and Mrs. Chiamaka Emmanuel Ngwokeonu were honoured with ‘Kingdom Builders Awards’.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the event, the President of the GHCM Youth Ministries, Minister Blessing Chinomso Ihedioha said the awards/honours were organised as part of activities marking their 2025 youth day celebration with theme; “Rooted in Christ”, to reward the awardees for their acts of integrity, dedication, selfless services, sacrifices and contributions in God’s vine yard and to the growth of the church and body of Christ, and for also being an inspiration and role models to the youths.
Miss Ihedioha, said, “This year’s youth day was awesome. The theme is; Rooted in Christ. Here we are talking about having a solid foundation in Christ, its not just about going to church. It calls for being focused on God and not allow material things and worldly pleasures distract you.
“For the persons we honoured today, they are not just special individuals, they have distinguished themselves in service to humanity. They were recognize for their selfless and sacrificial services in God’s vine yard, as well as their contributions in the body of Christ. The award aims to encourage them.”
The Lead Pastor and founder, Graced Horizon City Ministry, Ambassador Chima Justice Anthony thanked the leadership and entire membership of the Youth Ministries for the honour on him and others, declaring God’s blessings and favour on them.
The Cleric, speaking on the theme of the youth day, “Rooted in Christ”, described the event as a wake up call on not only the youths of the Church, but to all Christians have closer relationship with God, be more committed to his works, increase their faiths and remain steadfast in their services and worship to Him.
Reacting to the award on him, Rivers’ Daily Champion Correspondent, Emmanuel Ovundah Nlewedum, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Profit, appreciated the youths and the church for the honour, noting that the award will spur him for greater services in the society and especially, in God’s vineyard.
He thanked his wife for being a pillar of support to him; saying, “Am humbled with this honour. This award stands for so many things to me and my family. One of which is a call for service.
“It also shows that no matter the little things you do to humanity, people are watching, and they are taking note. It also means that you must monitor all your activities and everything you are doing because people are observing you and taking records.
“It therefore also means that we just have to keep working harder. For me, serving in the house of God gives me ultimate satisfaction, and that’s what I believe in.”
Also, Mrs. Bosidor Sokari, who was bestowed with Role Model Award, expressed her appreciation to the youths and the church for the honour.
She urged them to remain faithful and rooted in the Lord, and prayed God to help her keep being the Role Model they see in her.
