Rivers NUJ Hails RSTV On New Innovations, Commends Mgt For Rewarding Hardworking Staff

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Rivers State Council has hailed the management of the Rivers State Television for changing the narrative of broadcast media in the state.

Rivers State NUJ chairman, Comrade Paul Bazia -Nsaneh made the commendation at the third edition of the monthly prayer Session initiated by Ambassador Paul Damgbor led management at the Station premises.

In a statement signed by the Council Secretary Dr Ijeoma Tubosia, the NUJ chairman eulogized RSTV for the prayer initiative which will help the station succeed, adding that whatever is committed to God never fails.

While commending the media outfit for also initiating a monthly award for performing staff lauded the management for
choice of reward for hard work which further portrays encouragement to work harder.

He advised the recipients and other staff to be diligent and show professionalism in carrying out their duties.

“The award motivates staff and make them want to work harder because Reward for work is more work”

Take professionalism seriously, carry yourselves with dignity and desist from appearing beggarly” he said

Bazia- Nsaneh however, expressed NUJ’s readiness to always support the station when the need arises while emphasizing that the Union will continue to raise its voice to speak for the upgrade of the government owned stations.

” We will continue to shout and continue to raise our voice until things change, because the success of RSTV and other government owned stations is the success of NUJ” he stated.

Earlier, the Acting General Manager of RSTV Ambassador Paul Damgbor sought the cooperation of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and partnership for the station to excel.

Ambassador Paul Damgbor states that the monthly prayer meeting has brought good tidings to the RSTV.

He highlighted some of the achievements of his administration as renovation of the station canteen to improve staff welfare,
Training of camera men to improve video production, training of security men and receptionist to strengthen professionalism and for better service delivery

Others are procurement of new studio camera, provision of new computers for the station’ library to support research and proper documentation

He however thanked the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Communications, Dr Honour Sirawoo for his efforts in helping RSTV secure license on nationwide broadcast to expand the station:s coverage beyond Rivers State.
