Rotary Club Of PHC Orbit Donates Bedsheets, Washing Tools, Takes Maternal, Child Health Advocacy To General Hospital Eleme LGA

The Rotary Club of Portharcourt Orbit District 9141 has donated  Washing/Cleaning tools, Beddings Towels and Accessories to the General Hospital Eleme in Eleme Local govt. Rivers state

Speaking at the venue of the handing over of the washing tools, Beddings, Towels for the maternal and child wards, to Eleme General Hospital. The President of Rotary Club of Portharcourt Orbit, Rotarian Richard Tonye  Appah said the gestures was parts of Rotary commitment to humanity, focused on maternal and child health, disease prevention and treatment.

“This significant service is critical health care providers for many families in this local government, particularly those who are most vulnerable. By choosing this hospital we aim to address pressing needs of mother and children. Who rely on this hospital for essential health care services. Today we are donating hospital bed sheets and washing agents to Eleme general hospital, this item seemingly simply plays a crucial role in ensuring a clean environment for the patient.  A Clean bedsheets and washing agents are fundamental in preventing infection and promoting fast recovery for both mothers and their newborn.

The impact of this project extends far beyond the immediate benefit of cleanliness and hygiene.
by providing this essential items we are contributing to a safer, more comfortable environment for patients. This in turn enhances the overall quality of care that the hospital can provide to patients
Our donation to Eleme general hospital is a testament of Rotary unwavering commitment to the maternal and child health. It’s a small but significant step towards ensuring that every mother and child in our community has access to quality health care they deserve”

President Appah said because “this is in line with Rotary international seven areas of focus, club members of RC PHC Orbit who are always dedicated to service above self  made this generous donations, vividly displayed here available for the hospital, by providing Hospital bed sheets bath towels, hand towels, detergents soaps and hand washing Equipments to the General Hospital Eleme through their personal gifts to support humanity and humanitarian purposes.

He said “Rotary also supports other areas of focus on maternal and child health but the washing, cleaning donations was made to the general hospital after the needs assessments carried out Sometime in July 2024 and because the needs aligns with one of the seven areas of focus for Rotary International, which aims to support mothers and children in their vital roles of bringing life into the world a viable choice for donation and goodwill.

Receiving the Gifts from RC PHC Orbit team, The Acting Rector of Eleme General Hospital Dr Claribel Lele-Okere“ expressed their sincere gratitude for the generous contribution and commitment of Rotary in assisting health workers, and the downtrodden to access basic health needs.

“I want to ensure you that this donation will be utilized for the purpose for which is meant for. like the section where I work here, we have no hand washing tool, Imagine what that means for a doctor who has to attend to different kind of persons various ailments, Though I use disposables wipes and Hand sanitizers but that can not replace the place for proper handwashing. so this is a welcome development for me and my team, even for the patients as well. we are truly grateful”

The Immediate past president Of Rotary club of Port Harcourt Orbit, Rtn Anita Ogona In her vote of thanks, Appealed to the Eleme Hospital Managements to ensure that the detergents, bedsheets donated by the club does not end up in someone or staff house, she hinted that the club will come forward with more needs assessment of the general Hospital and the only way of getting more donations is the fervent and effective use of the equipment donated If kept in good use at all times. She said apart from sensitization and awareness advocacy embedded in this project, we believed this would make the desired impact on the beneficiaries and the community at large while helping to bring the necessary attention to the needs of indigent communities around the State” “that will spur us to do more because Rotary is determined to reduce the mortality of mothers and children in Eleme LGA and  particularly in underserved communities.”

In attendance to Donate the Washing equipments, is The District 9141 Rotary Assistant Governor For Zone 30  AG Rtn Ajoke Enebeli, Excos and members of RC PHC Orbit.

Also in attendance to Receive the Cleaning/washing equipment bedsheets, Towels is the management staff, Medical Officers, senior Nursing staff of Eleme General Hospital, Eleme LGA in Rivers state.
