Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi’s son, Osborn Umahi, has formally joined the race for the chairmanship of Ohaozara Local Government Area, having obtained the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the August local government elections in Ebonyi State.
Osborn picked up the forms on Friday at the APC state secretariat along Waterworks Road, Abakaliki, in the company of serving and former members of the State Executive Council, past and present local government chairmen, key stakeholders from Ohaozara, and a large crowd of supporters.
He was received by members of the APC State Executive Committee led by the state chairman, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, who described Osborn Umahi as an “intelligent and dynamic young politician” with the capacity to drive development at the grassroots level in Ohaozara.
Okoro-Emegha also praised Governor Francis Nwifuru for what he described as deliberate efforts to promote youth inclusion in governance, noting that the current administration has continued to open doors for young people to participate actively in the leadership and development of Ebonyi State.
Speaking to journalists after obtaining the forms, Osborn Umahi expressed gratitude to stakeholders and residents of Ohaozara for their support and endorsement, pledging that, if elected, his administration would prioritise human capital development, grassroots empowerment, infrastructure development, and security.
He further commended Governor Nwifuru for empowering youths in governance and assured party leaders and supporters that he would justify the confidence reposed in him. Osborn also pledged to consolidate on the infrastructure legacy associated with his father, stressing that the combined efforts of Senator David Umahi and Governor Francis Nwifuru have played a major role in transforming Ebonyi State.
