A 10-storey building on Broad Street, Lagos Island Local Government Area of Lagos State was seen in a viral video caught fire.
The Director, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, disclosed this to newsmen on Sunday.
The fire, which cause was yet to be identified, rocked the popular Mandilas building in the area starting from the first floor of the building and has escalated to the fourth floor.
Adeseye disclosed that emergency responders from the Ebute Elefun and Sari Iganmu Fire Stations are currently at the scene to curb further escalation and put the situation under control.
The fire, it was gathered started from a warehouse on the first floor of the building before spreading to other floors.
Men of the state Fire and Rescue Service, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, Police, and other emergency responders raced to the scene to put out the raging fire.
As of press time, the cause of the inferno was yet to be ascertained as rescue operations were ongoing.
Affected traders who later stormed the scene were seen salvaging some of their wares and other valuable items possible.
