Wife of Slain Anambra Lawmaker, Justina Azuka, Appointed Legislative Aide To Senator Nwoye, Hours After Loss Of By-Election To APGA Candidate

Recall that Mrs Azuka had contested election for the Onitsha North 1 State Constituency, previously held by her husband, Justice Azuka, before he was kidnapped and eventually killed.

Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Sunday, announced the result of the by-election, declaring the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Mimih Ifeoma Azikiwe, winner, while Mrs Azuka came closely behind.

The idea of fielding her as candidate of the ADC was to empower her to train her three children left behind by her late husband. But with her loss in the election, Senator Tony Nwoye appointed her as a legislative aide.

In a photo circulating online, Senator Nwoye was seen handing her an appointment letter. When asked, the senator confirmed that he truly appointed her. It was also gathered that her appointment came with a basic salary of N200,000, and this has been applauded by many who believe that the appointment will cushion the effect of the loss of the husband to her, and also cater for her family.
