Some Nasarawa residents have taken to the streets to celebrate the tribunal judgement that nullified the victory of Abdullahi Sule of the All Progressives Congress as State Governor.
The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State, declared David Ombugadu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate as the one duly elected by the State after nullifying the election victory of Sule.
During the ruling on Monday, two of the justices said Ombugadu won the election, while one judge dissented.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Sule, candidate of the APC, as winner of the election with 347,209 votes.
Ombugadu polled second with 283,016 votes.
However, the PDP candidate had expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the governorship election, citing alleged irregularities.
A video that surfaced on the internet captured a mild celebration currently on-going amongst the politician’s supporters.
Men, women donning black attire, with flags bearing the PDP colour were seen rejoicing on the streets.
The PDP candidate is also seen at his residence expressing happiness and joy following the ruling.
