Mrs. Clara Itigwe is a 28 year old woman and mother of three children, she has accused her mother in-law Mrs. Ngozi Itigwe of illegally seizing the share of her(Clara’s) husband property after his death and ordering her(Clara) to go and remarry.
Mrs. Clara Itigwe said her husband died last year(2023) August and was buried September,2023 and she was still lawfully married to her husband until his death.
The late husband according to her is from Ahoada West LGA in Rivers state.
In an interview with Journalists, Mrs. Clara Itigwe said “My name is Clara Itigwe, my mother in-law claimed my husband’s property. Before my husband died they shared the property. She has her own ,my husband has his own.
“So after my husband died, she denied me of accessing those property. She even went to my husband’s tenant and told them not to make rent to me. She was collecting the rent and asked them not pay me those rent.
“I have three children, we are struggling to survive and she is collecting those rent, telling me that I should carry my children, pack my things and go that I am no longer part of the family. This is the issue.
“I really need, I want Government to come to my aide and bring a fair judgement to this kind of case because me I don’t really know how to go about it again. I have tried to make peace with her, she insisted, she said I must leave that I am no longer part of the family that my husband is dead”.
When contacted by our reporter, Mrs. Ngozi Itigwe denied any wrong doings.
Mrs. Ngozi Itigwe claimed that Clara had divorced her husband before his death that it was she Ngozi who called Clara to come when the husband was sick and it was not up to three to four days Ngozi came that the husband died.
Mrs. Ngozi Itigwe said the case is with the family of the late husband of Clara who had asked her(Clara) to come with her people and up till this moment they(Clara’) people are yet to meet the family of her (Clara’s) late husband.
She also tried seizing any property from Clara .
