3 Persons Burnt To Death As Tanker Conveying Gas Explodes After Falling Off Obiri-Ikwerre Bridge In Port Harcourt

The Rivers state police command has confirms that three persons have died this morning following a fire outbreak at OBIRI IKWERRE FLYOVER, PORT HARCOURT, RIVERS STATE

The state police public relations officer SP Grace Iringe-Koko in a telephone interview said  the commissioner of police CP Olatunji Disu and other men of the command had visited the scene to ensure that the fire was put off

She urged the motorist and commuters to use alternative route and avoid the area due to the presence of the CNG Cylinders with contents still inside pending when it will be evacuated

Credible information reaching Eastwest reporters indicates that the Tanker fell off while not paying attention at tried to manipulate the Obiri Ikwerre flyover.

An eye witness said that the fire  which happened around 9:30 to10 am this morning involved a tanker carrying Liquefied Natural Gas LNG which fell over and exploded while trying to to navigate the roundabout has rendered some valuables, vehicles useless

He said the impact of the explosion was felt miles away as some residents said their windows was was shattered while others said they felt the vibrations

As at press time Security agents and men of officers from the Fire services are on ground working hard and have put out the fire  while crowd of onlookers gathered around to watch and take shots of the explosion
