More Political Drama As Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo Emerge New Speaker Of Rivers State House of Assembly

In what seems to be a twist of the political saga in Rivers state, Some assembly members loyal to The Rivers state governor Sim Fubara have elected new speakers saying no one can truncate businesses of a legitimate government.

The Speaker emerged after other Law Makers who did not defect  AMAEWHULE/Wike 27 lawmakers having defected to APC met at the government approved chambers and elected Oko Jumbo as SPEAKER.

Oko Jumbo hails from Bonny State Constituency.

The new speaker after taking his oath of his new office Thanked the Governor Sir Siminialayin Joseph Fubara GSSRS, Executive Governor of Rivers State, saying the sate now has a working house to help him move the State forward.

Hon. Jumbo was part of those who dragged the Martin Amaewhule group to court, challenging their legitimacy as members of the Assembly, having defected from the party under which platform they were elected.

With the development, will be leading two others to make laws for the state. Mr Edison Ehie, a former speaker of the Assembly and now chief of staff to Sim Fubara, had earlier declared the seat of the 27 defectors vacant, in line with the provisions of the constitution.

Recall that on Tuesday, the acting chairman of factional APC , Tony Okocha, had directed the defecting lawmakers to begin an impeachment proceedings against Fubara, after the governor’s declaration that they were not known in the eyes of the law.

It was gathered that the lawmakers to be led by Jumbo, will soon receive a new list of nominees for appointment as commissioners, as well as those to be appointed to head the various local governments in the state, as the tenure of elected council chairmen expires net month.

The commissioners loyal to Wike, but who were re-appointed by Fubara in line with the Abuja accord, had resigned recently and their positions yet to be filled. As it is today, the state does not have a commissioner for works as well as that justice, among others.

Meanwhile the Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, Rivers State Chapter and South-South zone, His Youthfulness, Amb Ihunwo Chijioke warmly felicitates with Rt. Hon. Comr Victor Oko Jumbo on his emergence as the new Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, urging him to give his best in providing leadership.

The Chairman rejoice with the Speaker for the significant role he played in the State.

The number one youth leader in Rivers State believes the Rt. Hon. Victor Oko Jumbo will further improve relationship between the Legislature and the Executive, and provide more opportunities for the growth of Rivers youths.
