Include Rivers State To The Flood Emergency Response Plan-Martins Amaewhule Led Assembly Appeals To FG

Deeply concerned about the impending flood and its possible negative impact on the people of the State, the Rivers State House of Assembly at its 47th Legislative Sitting of the Second Session of the Tenth Assembly, Monday, has called on the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) and other relevant government agencies to do the needful by including Rivers State in their flood response plan.

The appeal was made while resolving on a Motion moved by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Dumle Maol. Moving the Motion, Rt.Hon Maol stated that the anticipated flood is hinged on the information that the authorities of the Republic of Cameroon had notified the Nigerian government of their planned regulated release of water from the Lagdo Dam, following recent torrential rainfalls in the West and Central African; urging his Colleagues to resolve in the affirmative on the prayers of the Motion.
