INEC Denies Releasing Voters Register To RISEC For Oct 5th Rivers LG Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has denied providing the voters’ register to the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission RSIEC for the upcoming local government elections on October 5th. Addressing journalists in Port Harcourt, Rivers State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Johnson Alalibo, stated that INEC is adhering to a Federal High Court order from Abuja, which has restrained the commission from releasing the voters’ register.

Mr Alalibo explained that while RSIEC had made a formal request for the voters register, the process was not completed before the court order was issued
Our correspondent, reports that Alalibo further revealed that the voters’ register is currently under the custody of INEC’s ICT department of the commission.
