The Lagos State Government has taken action against noise pollution by sealing several establishments, including a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) and various business facilities. This enforcement was carried out by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA).
Tokunbo Wahab, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, stated that the initiative aligns with the state’s goal of fostering a healthier and more sustainable environment for its residents.
In a statement released on Monday, Wahab revealed that LASEPA sealed several facilities across Lagos, including the RCCG branch, Daily Bakery, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Franjane Royal Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Center & SPA, FS Service Centre, and Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall.
The enforcement operation targeted areas such as Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, demonstrating LASEPA’s commitment to combating environmental violations.
“These establishments were sealed for failing to meet environmental standards, despite receiving prior warnings from the agency,” Wahab explained.
He emphasized that the action reflects the government’s unwavering determination to uphold environmental laws and protect the well-being of Lagos residents.
Wahab reassured the public that LASEPA would continue its efforts to ensure a cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable Lagos, stressing the importance of compliance with environmental regulations for the benefit of all.
This operation is part of the broader strategy by the Lagos State Government to address pollution, enforce regulations, and enhance the quality of life in one of Africa’s busiest urban centers.
