A Japan Airlines aircraft collided with a Delta Air Lines plane at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, prompting an immediate evacuation of passengers.
While no injuries were reported, the cause of the incident remains under investigation.
Collision Details
According to an official statement from the airport, the collision occurred when a Japan Airlines aircraft, while taxiing, struck the tail of a stationary Delta Air Lines plane. The incident took place on a taxi lane, resulting in minimal disruption to overall airport operations.
Passengers onboard were safely deplaned and transported to the terminal via buses. However, one passenger shared footage showing the wing of the aircraft catching fire during takeoff, raising concerns about the severity of the incident.
Aviation Safety Concerns Following Recent Crashes
This collision comes exactly one week after a tragic midair crash near Washington, D.C., where a passenger plane and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter collided, resulting in 67 fatalities.
The aviation industry has also faced other incidents in recent days. On Monday, Delta Flight 2090, carrying 158 passengers from New York’s JFK Airport to Orlando, was diverted to Raleigh due to reports of an “odor in the cabin.” Meanwhile, on Sunday, passengers and crew aboard United Airlines Flight 1382 were evacuated at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston following a reported engine issue, as confirmed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Authorities continue to investigate the Seattle collision as part of broader concerns about aviation safety, while passengers remain on high alert amid a series of recent airline incidents.
