Attempts To Throw ADC Into Fresh Political Crisis Fails In Court

A fresh attempt to plunge the African Democratic Congress (ADC) into crisis has failed as the Federal High Court in Abuja refused to grant an injunction against the party’s National Chairman, Senator David Mark, and National Secretary, former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola.

This clarification was contained in a statement by the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, on Thursday in Abuja.

Abdullahi explained that the court, presided over by Justice Emeka Nwite on September 4, 2025, dismissed the ex-parte application filed by Nafiu Bala Gombe, who had sought to restrain the party’s leaders from functioning.

He said instead, the court ordered that the defendants be put on notice and directed them to appear to show cause why the application should not be granted, before adjourning the matter to September 15, 2025.

According to Abdullahi, the rumors suggesting otherwise were the handiwork of “desperate political jobbers” frustrated by INEC’s decision and bent on destabilizing the party.

“The African Democratic Congress, ADC, wishes to set the record straight regarding false reports currently circulating in the media about the recent ruling of the Federal High Court, Abuja, concerning the leadership of our great party.

“Contrary to some misleading publications, the court did not issue any order restraining Senator David Mark and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola from functioning as the National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC, respectively,” Abdullahi stated.

The party further warned the media and members of the public against being misled by fake news, urging everyone to verify information before publication or circulation.
