Swedish Govt Offers To Pay Immigrants $34,000 To Voluntarily Return To Their Country From 2026

The Swedish government in September 2024, announced plans to significantly increase financial incentives for immigrants who voluntarily return to their home countries, with the new policy to take effect in January 2026.

The maximum grant will rise from a family maximum of 40,000 kronor (about $3,800) to 350,000 kronor ($34,000) for eligible immigrants.

This is part of a broader “paradigm shift” in Sweden’s migration policy. The right-wing coalition government, which is supported by the anti-immigration Sweden Democrats, has prioritized curbing immigration and addressing integration issue
