Abia Community Donates #100m To Purchase Nomination Form For Gov. Otti’s Re-election In 2027

According to the statement, the funds were collectively raised by the Ukwa La Ngwa people, a major socio-cultural bloc in Abia State, as a demonstration of appreciation for what they described as the governor’s transformative leadership and inclusive style of governance since assuming office.

The Ukwa La Ngwa people of Abia State have pledged a sum of ₦100 million toward the purchase of the nomination form for Governor Alex Otti’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The donation was announced during a grand civic reception held in honour of Governor Otti on Friday at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state. The development was later confirmed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Njoku Ukoha.

According to the statement, the funds were collectively raised by the Ukwa La Ngwa people, a major socio-cultural bloc in Abia State, as a demonstration of appreciation for what they described as the governor’s transformative leadership and inclusive style of governance since assuming office.

Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Ukwa La Ngwa Civic Reception and Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Emmanuel Emeruwa, announced the donation on behalf of the people. He said the gesture was not only a show of confidence in Governor Otti’s leadership but also a clear signal of the community’s readiness to support his administration beyond symbolic endorsements.

It is a collective decision and a reflection of our belief in the direction Governor Otti is taking Abia State,” Emeruwa said. He added that the Ukwa La Ngwa people were prepared to mobilise additional resources if the need arose, stressing that their support was driven by performance rather than politics.

The civic reception attracted a massive turnout, with residents, traditional rulers, political leaders and stakeholders from across Abia State converging on Aba to celebrate the governor. Cultural troupes, community groups and youth organisations added colour to the event, turning the stadium into a festival of unity and solidarity.

In his response, Governor Otti expressed deep appreciation for the honour and endorsement, describing the reception as overwhelming and humbling. He thanked the Ukwa La Ngwa people for their confidence in his administration and assured them that their support would not be taken for granted
