AFCON 2025: Nigeria Wraps Up Group Matches With 3–1 Victory Against Uganda

Nigeria’s Super Eagles wrapped up their group-stage matches at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations with a strong 3–1 victory over Uganda on Tuesday.

The win ensured a flawless run, as Nigeria collected all nine possible points in the group.

Raphael Onyedika was the standout performer in the match, scoring two goals in the second half. His goals came in the 62nd and 67th minutes, helping Nigeria pull away comfortably from their opponents.

Before Onyedika’s double, Paul Onuachu had already put Nigeria ahead in the 28th minute. The early goal gave the Super Eagles control of the game and set the tone for the rest of the match played in Fes.

Nigeria’s squad was heavily rotated for the encounter, but the changes did not affect their performance. The team showed depth and discipline as they completed the group phase without dropping a single point.

GWG.ng reports that the Uganda attack was led by Uche Ikpeazu who has a Nigerian father and Ugandan mother.

The Super Eagles had earlier defeated Tanzania and Tunisia in their first two matches, making the win over Uganda their third straight victory in the group.

Nigeria came into the tournament as runners-up from the 2023 AFCON and will now head into the knockout stages with confidence after finishing the group phase perfectly.
