Anambra Police Arrest Suspects In Murder of Female Bank Manager Despite Ransom Payment

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the kidnap and murder of a female bank manager, whose body was discovered in Onitsha after her family paid a ₦14 million ransom.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrests were made on 28th May 2025 as part of the Command’s renewed efforts to track down criminal elements and ensure justice for victims of heinous crimes in the state.

The suspects, identified as Monday Egbe (32) and Kenneth Nnoga (28), were tracked to their hideout in a neighbouring state by operatives of the Command who had been conducting diligent investigations into the case.

The tragic incident occurred on 13th January 2025, when the lifeless body of the victim was found along Nnobi Road with her eyes tied. This was after the kidnappers had collected a ransom of ₦14 million from her family. Despite the payment, the victim was killed and dumped at the roadside.

“The suspects are currently undergoing interrogation to provide further insight into the modus operandi of the criminal gang and to assist in the arrest of other fleeing members,” Ikenga said.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property in Anambra State.

“The Command shall continue to live up to its mandate of protection of lives and properties of Ndi Anambra and residents, and to ensure that all cases are followed to a logical conclusion and justice served,” CP Orutugu stated.

Investigations are ongoing, and the police have promised to keep the public updated as progress is made.
