Anambra Police Continues Crackdown Of Criminal Elements In Ihiala, Bust Kidnapping, Cyberstalking Ring

The Anambra State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in their efforts to curb criminal activities in Ihiala, arresting four suspects involved in attempted kidnapping, cyberstalking, and other related crimes. The suspects, identified as Chimezie Ezebuo, Chinaza Ndimani, Chinecherem Okafor, and Nzube Azubuike, were apprehended on April 10, 2025, after a painstaking investigation by the Joint Security Force in Ihiala.

The Anambra State Police Command also noted the improved security situation in Ihiala, while thanking the cooperation and resilience of the local community in identifying and reporting suspicious activities. The command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, however praised the community’s efforts, stating that their vigilance has been instrumental in helping the police crack down on criminal elements.

During the arrest, operatives recovered phones and SIM cards used by the suspects to threaten their victims, causing widespread panic and undermining security efforts in the state. All the suspects have confessed to the crime and are currently in custody, undergoing further interrogation.

SP Ikenga Tochukwu further stated that the Anambra State Police Command remains committed to maintaining public safety and ensuring that individuals are held accountable for actions that incite fear or disturb public peace. This recent arrest is a testament to the command’s dedication to protecting the community and upholding the law.

In a related development, the Anambra State Police Command has reported a significant reduction in crime rates, with 300 suspected criminals arrested and 30 convictions secured in 2024. The command’s efforts to combat kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism have been yielding positive results, with 14 kidnap victims rescued and numerous unexploded improvised devices recovered.
