Anambra Traditional Practitioners (Nzuko Odinani Welfare Association) Appeals To Govt To Reconsider Ban On Water Sacrifices

The apex body of all sub sociocultural groups of Igbo extraction across Igbo land, Nzuko Odinani Welfare Association, has called on the Anambra State government to reconsider its ban on water sacrifices among Igbo spiritualists in the state, stressing the historical, cultural and spiritual significance of the practice in traditional worship.

NOWA made the appeal at Jerome Udoji Secretariat Awka, through the President General, Nze Onyebuchi Izuegbu, and the Secretary General, Nze Dike Ugbaja, who appreciated Professor Soludo’s concern over traditional worship and need for a healthy environment across the state, and appealed that portion of some streams in the state be allocated to traditionalists for the purpose of sacrifice which they will always cleanup after the exercise

.Responding, the state Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, Comrade Don Onyenji commended the group for joining efforts with the Governor to transform the state, reminding them that Governor Soludo is not against traditional worship, but is only fighting to make the state conducive and livable for law abiding citizens.
