A dramatic scene unfolded at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Idedu in Etiti Amokwe, Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, after the parish priest disrupted the annual meeting of the women over their decision to bring alcohol into the church.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the priest was seen dragging crates of alcohol from the women. After successfully retrieving them, he proceeded to smash the bottles right inside the church.
According to reports, the parishioners involved, who are members of the Catholic Women Organisation (CWO), had been asked to use a different venue for their meeting if they insisted on bringing alcohol. However, they disregarded the priest’s directive and went ahead to hold the meeting inside the church.
