Apapa Absent In Court As PEPT Sets Monday To Rule On Live Telecast Of Proceedings Request By Labour Party

The Ongoing Presidential Election Petition Tribunal Court (PEPT) has set Monday 23nd May to rule on Peter Obi and Labour Party Request for tribunal live proceedings

You’d recall that today would be the last day for the Pre-hearing at the Tribunal from both LP and PDP.

It means, pre-hearing must be concluded today: The tribunal will start with the PDP v APC, INEC, Tinubu will be heard first.

What to expect:
★Judgment on motions for live broadcast of PEPT
★Judgment on other motions before the Tribunal
★Closure of Pre-Hearing and Date to commence Hearing proper.

The Five man panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPT) reserved ruling till Monday on the application by Peter Obi and the Labour Party (LP) for live streaming of the proceedings of the court. Justice Tsammani announced this a moment ago after lawyers to parties adopted their various processes.

The Lawyer to Obi and the LP, Awa Kalu (SAN) urged the court to grant the application in the interest of the public.

Abubakar Mahmoud (SAN) for INEC, Wole Olanipekun (SAN) for Bola Tinubu and Kashim Shettma, and Adeniyi Akintola (SAN) for the APC, moved their various counter affidavits and prayed the court to reject the application for being without merit and constituting a distraction to the court. The court has adjourned till Saturday for further pre-hearing session in the petition.
