APGA Chairmanship Tussle Takes A New Twist As INEC Dumps Victor Oye Recognizes Njoku Faction Following Appeal Court Judgment

The leadership battle facing the All Progressives Grand Alliance, have taken a new turn as the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has recognized Chief Edozie Njoku as the authentic National Chairman of APGA

The legal battle which started about six years ago has gone through the high court, appeal and supreme court, held that all the actions taken by Chief Victor Oye including a national convention are “illegal, null and of no effect whatsoever”.

However, INEC refused to recognised Chief Njoku as the Chairman of the party and continued to deal with Barrister Sylvester Ezeokenwa as the Chairman of the party.

In a turn of event, a second judgment of the Court of Appeal delivered on June 28, 2024 ordered the committal to prison, the INEC Chairman and Victor Oye for disobedience to the order of the court issued on 10th of May 2023 which restrained Oye from conducting, organizing or convening any primary election, convention, Congress, meetings or flag off for any purpose pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Recognising the new judgement of the appellate court, a source very close to Njoku said that “INEC has placed a call to the authentic chairman of APGA. As I speak to you now, a national commissioner of INEC called Chief Njoku to recognise him as the national chairman of the party,” he said.

Njoku is expecting his letter to that effect.
