Apprentice Stabs Master To Death During Quarrel Over His Teenage Girlfriend

An apprentice identified as Udeji Bright has been accused of stabbing his boss, Johnson Sunday, to death during a fight over a teenage girl in Ogiriga community, Okpella, Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred on the night of Friday, March 21, 2025.

According to a Facebook user who shared details about the incident, an eyewitness claimed that both men were engaged in a heated argument over a girl said to be between 16 and 17 years old before the fight turned violent.

“Mr. Udeji Bright is an apprentice to Mr. Johnson Sunday (deceased), who was a trailer driver. It was said they were fighting over a girl who is just about 16-17 years old. Mr. Johnson Sunday was stabbed from the back around 11 p.m. last night,” the witness narrated.

It was gathered that the suspect is currently in police custody over the alleged crime.

The tragic event has reportedly sparked tension in the community, with reports indicating that enraged youths set fire to a house belonging to the suspect’s father.

As investigations continue, the Edo State Police Command is yet to release an official statement regarding the case.
