Atiku, Obi, El-Rufai Coalition Announce New Party- Submits Registration Request To INEC, See Name, Other Details

The Nigeria National Coalition Group has announced that it has applied to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for the registration of a new political party named the All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

The application was submitted on June 19, 2025, and acknowledged by INEC on Friday.

It was signed by the Protem National Chairman of the group, Chief Akin A. Rickets, and included the party’s slogan, logo, flag, constitution, and manifesto.

“The name of the party shall be All Democratic Alliance with ADA as our acronym and ‘Justice for All’ as our slogan.

“The National Secretariat of the party is as stated at the bottom of the association’s letterhead used in this application.

“We have also herewith attached our logo describing in details the symbolism of our party colours and the their configuration and the corn (Maize).

“We have further attached our manifesto encompassing details of our party ideology, and our constitution providing the legal framework that defines our identity, structures and organization, regulates our affairs and guides our actions in alignment with Section 40 and 222 of the Constitution, Section 75 of the Electoral Act (2022) and global democratic principles and objectives.

“Please find attached the following documents: our party flag depicting our name, acronym and slogan, manifesto, constitution and minutes of meeting.”

This move came after weeks of internal discussions within the coalition, which consists of political figures opposed to President Bola Tinubu.

The group had earlier considered aligning with existing political parties like the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), but concerns over internal disputes and legal issues made that option less attractive.

To find a solution, the group set up a committee headed by former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi.

The committee recommended creating a new political platform where all members would join on equal terms.

Some of the well-known names in the coalition include former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Amaechi himself, and Dr. Umar Ardo of the League of Northern Democrats.
