Breaking: Rivers Sole Administrator Approves 32K Minimum Pension, Increases Gratuity Funding

Pensioners in Rivers State have Disassociated themselves from any purported Protest by the group threatening to take to the streets over pending gratuity.

The state secretary of the Nigerian Union of pensioners Rivers State branch, Dr Joseph Agbo in an interview with our correspondent said the union does not have any intention to protest as the sole Administrator Ibok Ete Ibas is taking care of the pensioners needs and have granted audience to the pensioners for them to discuss and iron out pressing issues affecting Retirees in the state.
He said after their meeting months back, the Sole Administrator has graciously approved the payment of Thirty Two Thousand naira minimum pension for all categories of pensioners which elected Governors have failed to do. He said by this singular actions, Pensioners who were earning as low as Eight thousand naira monthly will now earn Thirty Two thousand naira like their counter parts in other states.

He recalled that the Pensioners have been begging government to implement consequential adjustments to meet with the current economic Realities.

The state Secretary of Nigeria Union of pensioners Dr Joseph Agbo also commended the Rivers State Sole Administrator Ibok Ete Ibas for also increasing the pension Gratuity from 2 Billion Naira to 2.6 Billion Naira monthly Gratuity the state Pensioners .

He explained that the delay in stopping the Gratuity Funding was due to lack of budget to accommodate the expenditures and the back and forth little adjustment by the National Assembly to iron out gray areas and revealed that the budget has been approved for smooth running of the state.
