Building Destroyed As Suspected Bomb Explodes in Umuneke, Obazu Mbieri Imo Community

The people of Umuneke Obazu Mbieri in Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State woke up on Sunday morning to a suspected bomb or drone attack.

Residents report that at about 1:00 am, a suspected drone was seen hovering over Umuneke in Obazu Mbieri and neighboring Umunjam and Amaulu in Ihitte Mbieri Autonomous Communities. This was a very unusual occurrence. About ten minutes from the time the suspected drone was sighted, a terribly loud explosion was heard bringing one building down and causing varying degrees of harm to several buildings. The effect of the explosion was felt more than 2km from its epicenter.

At press time, the DPO Mbieri Police Division, Supol Wet Ben had visited the scene but no official statement had been released as to the cause of the explosion. The anti-bomb unit of the Nigeria Police Force is expected to swing into action and unravel the cause of the explosion.
The Chairman of Mbaitoli Local Government Area, Hon. Ifunanya Nwanegwo and the Secretary General of Obazu Autonomous Community, Hon. Emeka Nosiri were among the first people to arrive at the site of the explosion. In their individual addresses to résidents, they encouraged everybody to remain calm as everything was being done to unravel the cause of the explosion.

It is expected that the Government of Imo State under the able leadership of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma, will swing into action and solve this puzzle.
