A man who suffered severe burns in a fire accident has accused the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (formerly Braithwaite Memorial Hospital, BMH) of neglect after he claimed no medical personnel attended to him when he arrived for emergency treatment.
In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the visibly injured man narrated how he drove himself to the hospital despite being in intense pain. He alleged that upon arrival, no doctor or nurse came to his aid and that hospital staff appeared to avoid him.
Describing the experience as traumatic, he warned Nigerians to stay away from the facility, calling it “a death trap and a licensed cemetery.” In the footage, he is seen with burn injuries while expressing frustration and disbelief over the alleged lack of response.
The man later said he was heading to Meridian Hospital for treatment.
