Court Orders Forfeiture of Private Jet to FG Over Customs Duty Breach

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the seizure of a Bombardier BD-700 Global 6000 (registration 9H-GVG) to the federal government for evading customs duties since its import in 2015.

Justice James Omotosho ruled that the aircraft, brought in without a permit or duty payment, deprived the government of over ₦1bn in revenue.

The Nigerian Customs Service had challenged the plane’s operator, Orlean Invest Africa Ltd, for failing to secure a Temporary Admission Permit and evade duty despite verification. The court rejected the company’s claim of foreign registration and charter status, ordering final forfeiture to the FG.
