A Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt has stopped the Sole Administrator, retired Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, from inaugurating the newly confirmed Chairman and members of the State Civil Service Commission.
Justice Frank Onyiri gave the order after hearing final arguments in a suit filed by the suspended Chairman, Reverend Goodlife Ben, and five others. They claim they were lawfully appointed by Governor Sim Fubara and confirmed by the House of Assembly before their suspension.
The court warned all parties to maintain the status quo, citing an earlier directive from April 2024. The case was adjourned to September 29, 2025 for judgment.
