Cross River State Commissioner For Women Affairs Kidnapped, Car Recovered-Police

Cross River Commissioner for Women Affairs, Prof. Gertrude Njah, has been kidnapped.

We gathered that Njah was kidnapped on Wednesday, along the Mayne Avenue street, located in Calabar South local government area of the state.

The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Eric Anderson confirmed the kidnapping to newsmen.

“Today, we received report of the kidnap of our colleague, Prof Gertrude Njah who is the Commissioner for Women Affairs. The police and the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties have been contacted.

“She was kidnapped at the Mayne Avenue but her car has been recovered. We also have information that the Police is closing up on the abductors,” he said.

Anderson expressed concern that such ugly development took place in the heart of the town.
