The Defence For Human Rights And Democracy (DHRD), is worried over the excessive interference by political godfather in the running the affairs of the 23 local government areas in Rivers State.
The activities by these So-called political godfathers is really truncating the service delivery moreso the dividend of democracy at the grassroot.
Local government areas are the third tier of government and the closest form of government to cater for the need of the rural populace which is now been truncated dew to unnecessary negative interference.
It has been revealed from credible sources how monthly allocation is being shared running into billions of naira to political godfathers whenever the federal allocation drops.
Regrettably, when the federal allocation comes, each local government council chairman remit hundreds millions of naira to political godfathers, chairman embezzle theirs and the left over will be used to pay workers salary after which nothing will be earmarked for project delivery this has caused zero performance on the part of local government chairmen.
DHRD,therefore, call on all those in this act to henceforth desist else we will petition them to all the anti-draft agencies and take further steps available to us within the ambit of the law.
