DHRD Decry Lack Of Internal Party Politics In Nigeria Democracy

The Defence For Human Rights And Democracy (DHRD) is deeply worried on the selection process of political parties candidates.

The primaries conducted by various political parties exposes the fact that there is lack of internal Democracy in Nigeria.

Primary election in a normal Democracy should be a preliminary stage where political parties vote a party member who has the requirements to fly the party flag in a contest with other political party candidates for the citizens to vote their preferred candidates that can best serve them in the position they are vying for; but unfortunately the case is different in Nigeria where the process is not even participatory.

Democracy can not survive in an atmosphere where internal Democracy, bullying, subjugation, intimidation and overly manipulating the process to money bags and godfatherism factor.

Withe the manipulation of the electioneering process,it is vividly clear that Nigeria Democracy still remain pseudo-democracy and the ones who should not be entrusted with political power will be imposed on the citizens hence the decay in our Democratic system.

DHRD, therefore charge citizens not to give up rather remains very active as election draw draw closer and vote candidates that will right the wrongs.
